Advice to Graduates
Congratulations to all spring 2021 graduates! You’ve worked hard and earned your diploma. Now what? If you have no clue what your next steps are, don’t fret because you are not alone. You are standing on the brink of a new adventure, and to be uncertain about where your journey is taking you is normal. Our team at Kelly Global Consultants has stood where you are and can say with confidence that the best is yet to come! Today, we are dishing on three pieces of post-graduation advice that we wish we were told.
Before we start, we want to stress that we are all walking our own journey. Don’t feel like you have to stick to the path that your parents, mentors, or peers are pushing you down. Embrace your passions and chase your dreams. The following tips are pretty universal and will help guide you to your true self!
Learn from every experience
One thing that you constantly hear in the business world is that learning is continuous. No matter how much experience you have accrued, there is still something new that you can learn. This is the first bit of advice that we are giving you today. Learn from every experience. Did you bomb an interview? Take a moment to figure out what went from and work to improve. Are you overwhelmed and are doing subpar work? Then, look for ways to improve your time management skills. No matter what, every encounter is a learning experience!
Document this time in your life
This could be age talking, but we are big believers in documenting your journey. There will come a time when you will look back on this moment in your life and want to reminisce on all that you went through. While exciting, this chapter is your first experience in the “real world,” and how you handle yourself will shape who you become. So, do future you a favor and keep a journal detailing where you are and what you’re facing. Your struggle today will be happy memories tomorrow.
Everything will work out in the end
It can be challenging not to compare yourself to your peers. After all, you’re all walking across the stage at the same time. So, it only makes sense that you start achieving professional success side by side, right? Wrong.
Growth is not linear, and unfortunately, it can’t be replicated by others.
Your achievements and struggles will not be the same as anyone else’s. Instead of feeling bitter when your classmates and friends hit a milestone before you, remember that everything will work out in the end. All you have to do is push yourself daily, and you’ll eventually run right into success!
